Guide to glp-1s
A PRACTICAL GUIDE TO SAFE STRATEGIC USE FOR PATIENTS USING GLP-1 MEDICATIONS
WHY do GLP-1s
require a safety guide?
GLP-1 medications are powerful metabolic signalling drugs. They quiet appetite and change how the brain, gut, and pancreas communicate about food and energy. Used well, they can improve metabolic health. Used carelessly, they can cost you muscle, nutrients, and resilience.
They work by:
Increasing satiety signalling in the brain
Slowing gastric emptying
Improving glucose-dependent insulin response
Reducing glucagon signalling
Stabilising blood sugar swings
For many people, this means less food noise and improved metabolic control.
However, GLP-1s do not automatically protect metabolic health.
A GLP-1 is a lever. Levers amplify direction they do not create it.
They do not:
Preserve muscle mass
Guarantee adequate nutrition
Replace resistance training
Fix stress physiology
Improve recovery on their own
